Admiral Martini

A distinctly maritime take on the classic Martini cocktail. This sophisticated libation substitutes Fino Sherry for the vermouth used in the classic version, which enhances the salinity of Portobello Navy Strength Gin. We have then swapped the more usual olive or lemon twist for a pickled caperberry.

This is not a Martini for the faint hearted, equating as it does to something like three units of alcohol. Dorothy Parker famously quipped that she would drink two Martini’s “at the very most… After three I’m under the table, after four I’m under the host!”. We suspect that just one of our Admiral Martinis will suffice for most people and only the very most hardened drinkers at that.

Ingredients

50mls Portobello Road Gin Navy Strength Gin

12.5mls Fino Sherry

3 dashes orange bitters

1 pickled caperberry

Method

Stir all the ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish simply with a pickled caperberry.
